Ali Marie Koch

Wild Hearts Community Engagement and Group Facilitator

Ali is a passionate outdoor adventurer and founder of Peak Recovery and Recovery Outsiders, organizations dedicated to providing trauma-informed, adventure-based recovery programs. Harnessing the power of nature and movement, Ali supports people in recovery in finding strength, healing, and community in nature. She believes recovery is a lifelong journey, not a destination, and feels honored to guide others along their unique paths to growth.

From a young age, Ali felt most alive in the outdoors. After summiting her first glaciated peak in 2015, she joined the Mazamas, a Pacific Northwest mountaineering group, and she’s been climbing ever since! Alpine, rock, and ice climbing, splitboarding, and snowboarding have been integral to her recovery, helping her build resilience, confidence, and lasting friendships. One of her most cherished experiences was summiting Mt. Kilimanjaro in 2019 with her mother, a milestone on her journey of personal transformation.

Ali has broad international and cross-cultural experience, including living with indigenous tribes in sub-Saharan Africa and the Amazon. She has dedicated her career to mission-driven organizations and leadership roles in clinical and community-based behavioral health settings. A certified Peer Support Specialist and therapeutic yoga instructor (E-RYT500), Ali is trained in Ayurvedic, Chakra, Hatha, and Vinyasa yoga and is currently completing a 3-year program to become a Clinical Yoga Therapist.

When not in the mountains or on her yoga mat, Ali enjoys adventuring with her Bernedoodle, Ziggy, scuba diving (especially with sharks), cultivating her native plant garden, and cooking plant-based meals for family and friends.

. . . Recovery is a lifelong journey, not a destination
