We are now recruiting passionate people to join us as we prepare to launch Wilderness4Life—the first non-profit, in person, local, aftercare coaching program for adolescents and young adults in the Pacific Northwest!
CURRENT OPPORTUNITIES
Parker Bounds Johnson Foundation is currently hiring Assistant Coaches, Field Coaches and Grant Writers to support our latest program, Wilderness4Life. Interns are welcome to apply!
Positions: Assistant Coach, Field Coach, Grant Writers

What: Wilderness4Life is the first non-profit, in person, local, aftercare coaching program for adolescents and young adults in the Pacific Northwest. When children come home from wilderness therapy programs, there exists the hardship of reintegrating back into their home environment. Wilderness4Life was developed to help youth and families to transition and prevent relapse by providing recreational opportunities in their backyard that allows them to continue connections made during wilderness therapy programs.
FIELD COACH & ASSISTANT COACH
Where: Programming will commence in communities throughout Oregon and Washington, such as Seattle, Bend, and Portland. Additional areas will be based on participant enrollment and geographical area of staff.
Qualifications:
•Some leadership and group facilitation experience
•First Aid/CPR is encouraged
•Relevant skills working with youth in outdoor settings
•Must have own transportation
*Preference for those with experience or competencies in wilderness therapy, adventure therapy, experiential education, recreation therapy, or nature-based therapy is a bonus.
*Must live in WA or OR for coach positions
For Interns:
•Current senior intern within an experiential education, psychology, social work, recreation therapy or outdoor leadership degree from qualifying college or University approved by faculty and Wilderness4Life Program Director
Responsibilities:
•Lead group sessions in an outdoor environment 1-2 times per week consisting of activities such as hiking, rock climbing, kayaking, mountain biking, etc. dependent on season and availability
•Collaborate with Program Director and team to create programming for his/her geographical area
•Develop and maintain relationships with participants and their families
•Maintain accurate records of participant attendance
•Adhere to safety protocols and procedures at all times
•Communicate regularly with Program Director
GRANT WRITER
Where: Remote, 5-10 hrs per week
Qualifications:
•Computer skills in Word, Power Point, Google Drive, Excel
•Strong organizational skills
Responsibilities:
•Identify grant funding opportunities
•Write, submit and manage grant proposals
